Im debating buying an esp viper 400 or 500, the only difference i see is rosewood vs ebony. any suggestions?
I dont know what the difference between ebony and rosewood is. I play pop/punk and hardcore. I know rosewood is cheaper, and im looking towords the cheaper one(viper 400) but the price difference is only like 30 bucks, so im wondering if its worth it. in addition, it only comes in black (viper 500)
I'm going to assume that you're speaking of the fretboard wood. Rosewood is known for the warmth that it imparts to the tone of the guitar versus the brightness of maple. Playing electric on rosewood has one drawback for me personally; I can feel the grain of the wood when doing bends during solos. Ebony is a great compromise between rosewood and maple in that you have the smoothness of the maple for comfort, and more warmth to the tone like rosewood. Except for a few of my acoustics, most of my guitars have the ebony fretboards because of the great playability and tone that it offers. Besides, what's not to like about a black fretboard?
Gibson les paul studio ebony chrome or sg standard heritage cherry?
I'm stuck between a Les Paul Studio or SG Standard. I've search a lot in the internet with this two awesome guitars. Well actually I'm in favor in the Les Paul Studio because it has nice looks, more versatile guitar, it has a nice finish, the sound of it is more dynamic and can sustain longer than the SG. One more thing i like in the Les Paul Studio is it suits my kind of genre like screamo, hardcore, rock and this guitar is cheaper than the SG. The Les Paul Studio is not so comfortable in playing the playing specially the fretboard and the other guitars that is in the range of $300 bucks is a lot better that this. And I quite was disappointed with it. .SG's has brighter sound than the Les Paul Studio. SG is more expensive than Les Paul Studio in around $200 bucks maybe becouse of it's neck that is better than the Les Paul Studio. SG is more pro instrument than the Les Paul Studio. CAN ANYONE SUGGEST OR CHOOSE WHAT'S BEST FOR ME. PLS.
save your money and buy a real les paul standard. The studio is basically a stripped down version of the standard and as such, does not play as well as the real thing. Although the studio is a nice guitar the SG is a better quality instrument.
Dang another guitar question!?
Hey! I'm stuck between two guitars.
The Fender Stratocaster Standard or the Epiphone Les Paul Standard ebony. I want to play post-hardcore, metal, rock, etc...
I can get the Epiphone used for 380$, which would leave some money for an amp.
I have a budget of around 500-600$
The Epiphone will have a rockier tone, and there is not much point to having a Strat without an amp anyway. Try the Epiphone before you buy, they are quite variable in quality and even $380 is too much to pay for a piece of firewood.
Or get a Squier Strat if you find the Les Paul too heavy and chunky.
Here's the edited part of my story I just wrote, What do you think?
The music filled the room with a high-frequency tone.
I strummed the strings of the guitar in such speed and momentum. All I could think about was the goth music that played out in my head. A sudden string on my guitar broke in two as I plucked it.
“ Dammit,” I said and stopped playing. I took the guitar off and laid it on the edge of the piano. I sighed and jumped when I saw Kira standing in the doorway with her long ebony hair swaying from the air vent. Her skin was a livid and her body was small and graceful.
“ Hardcore,” She said and made her way over to me in one rapid move. She sat down on the piano, and fumbled with her neon colored bracelet.
“ How’s it going,” She said in a dulcet voice, “ You haven’t been feeding,” I took in the lifeless air around me and sighed.
“ I’m strong remember,” I paused and turned on the stereo. “ I can control myself well.” I said as “Forbidden” by “Death Valley” played loudly. The music rushed through me and hypnotized me.
I like it. not love it, but it appears readable. I like your words. very sexy.
I know what I want in a guitar, but I haven't found that guitar yet. Do you know of a guitar with?
[I typically play metalcore, post hardcore, but also play pop rock, punk rock, ska, death metal, thrash, and indie rock.]
24 frets
Ebony fretboard
Active humbuckers, preferably active EMG's or Seymour Duncan Invaders [with potentially a single coil so that I can play clean, non metal songs]
A double locking tremolo that allows dive bombing, preferably a Floyd Rose Original
Preferably a guitar that isn't too heavy in weight. I found a Schecter Damien that I liked, but it was uncommonly heavy and uncomfortable, enough to make me stop considering it.
A high radius, so shredding is easy and comfortable.
A guitar that is reliable for gigs, and durability.
I don't want a guitar that's muddy sounding, I want the harmonics to ring clear, and the distortion to have some real crunch.

I play through a Line 6 Spider IV 120W 2x10 and will most likely be getting the Boss Metalcore Pedal and a killswitch that I've found is reliable and won't cut tone.
Hello there,

You can get some of that in a Jackson DKMG Dinky.
jacksonguitars.com/products/produ…

The fretboard is rosewood, not ebony.
It has active pickups, EMG 81/85. An awesome sounding combo
It has a double locking trem, but not a Floyd Rose. Like Ibanez, Jackson uses their own trems now.
The guitar is not heavy. It has a basswood body. That is about the lightest of the tonewoods.
Jacksons are good for shredding. I don't know the radius off hand, but they tend to be on the flatter side. Also a thin profile neck so it is quite comfortable.
Jackson are reliable and durable. There have been a lot of gigs played on a Jackson.
With EMG active pickups you should not have a problem with a muddy sound and those pickups work well for distortion. They are also great for harmonics.

The biggest miss with this guitar is that it does not have a single coil; it runs the two EMGs. This point will be a problem fitting in with what else you want. If you use active humbucking pickups, like the EMG 81 and 85 (or Seymour Duncan black outs), you will need an active single coil. You should not mix active pickups with passive pickups. Those can be a problem mixing those. Not a lot of guitars run active single coil pickups.

There is always the option of getting a guitar that you really like and fits all your needs except for the pickups. Something in an H/S/H or S/S/H arrangement. Then swap out the pickups. You can drop an EMG 81 in the bridge and an EMG 85 in the neck. EMG also makes an active single coil for use in Strats, so you can drop one or two of those in depending on which arrangement you went with. I like the H/S/H arrangement over the S/S/H if you are going to swap out for active pickups. No need for a neck and mid single coil. The 81/85 is an awesome sounding combo.

Oops, I forgot the Soloist. The SL3MG Soloist comes with a Floyd Rose

No single coil, but closer than the Dinky because of the Floyd Rose.

ive had and idea for a book floating around in my head for a book so here is some if it. It has not been edited yet.
Moonlit

Hundreds of people in ebony, blood red, and midnight blue stood outside waiting fo the Bloody Fang, the hottest night club in Mezora, to open for the first time. Pale makeup covered adults, making them seem white in the full moons light, Occasionally, fangs protruded out from strangers mouths, with blood red smears running down their chins. These people, these things were called Fanpires, vampire wannabees, who desperately wanted to be undead.

The Bloody Fang had been created exclusively for Fanpires, and was now open for three nights a week, after the sun went down, the only time vampires and Fanpires came out. Built out of an abandoned warehouse in the lower district of a medium sized town, Fanpires flocked to the Bloody Fang to quench their vampire role playing urges. Inside was what the owners thought every real vampire would think the definitoin of luxery was. Feeding stations filled with docile drugged men and women, offered hardcore Fanpires drink options other than red tinged drinks and Bloody Marys. And then their was the Endorphorine House, a place where so called tame vampires would bite Fanpires to give them a high better than any drug could give.

Of course Evangeline, the Bloody Fangs quite and seemingly normal bartender, knew the biters from the Endorphrine House were fakes. Real vampire venom would slowly go throught mortals blood systems converting them into vampirism, and not getting them high. How did a simple minded bartender know this? It was a simple answer, Evangeline you see happened to be an actual vampire, not a poser like the Fanpires. Standing six feet tall, Evangeline was a pretty nineteen year old girl with choppy black hair down to her shoulders. Deathly pale skin mader her green eyes stand out like emeralds in the incandescent lights of the Bloody Fang.

"Ready for opening night Jer?" Evangeline innocently asked.

Jer happeded to be every girls dream guy. He was tall, dark, and extreamly handsome, but too bad for the girls, he was into guys instead. To Evangeline, Jer was nothing more than a great friend whom she could tell anything, and her non Fanpire boss.

"Sure am hun, you know i like my men to be dark and mysterious just like most Fanpires. How bout youself?"

" Hungry, but ready." she replied.

Hunger wasn't a problem for Evangeline, unless she phsyically saw blood, and then the feral beast inside of her was released, wanting never to be contained again.

" Well there's a cute guy, i think his name is Danny, in the V.I.P section you could show a good time. Just make sure to hide the body until Stefan can properly dispose of it later."

Seconds later Evangeline sprinted to the V. I, P room where, she saw th extact man she was looking. Danny was about half a foot shorter than her with cropped blonde hair. If not for her hunger she would have spared an innocent mortal like him, oh well one more victem in her long line of feeders wouldn't hurt. Calling upon her talent all vampires possesed, hypnoses, Evangeline suductivly walked over to Danny, who sat in a velvety smooth black loveseat with hypnosis like a deadly venom on her tounge.

"Hey baby come outside with me and I'll show you things you have never seen before. It will only take a few minutes." she purred.

Dannys grayish eyes glazed over in a puppy dog fashion as he followed her out the back entrence. What a stupid, stupid man only seconds from death.

"Stay perfectly still and this won't hurt a bit."

Danny backed against a wall a reenforced steel wall; his jugular pumping and pulsing with unimaginably delicious blood. Evangeline could feel the heat radiating from his body, the warm musky scent of his colonge caressed her nose. Fangs elongated from Evangelines eye-teeth, popping open her mouth. Poisoness venom seaped through her fangs, tinging her mouth with a metalic rendering. Releasing the beast inside of her, Envangeline pounced, catlike, straight onto Dannys unsuspecting form.

Screams of pain echoed through the nights cool air as she sank her sharp fangs directly into his neck. Thick strong hands, Danny's hands, gripped her sides trying to escape from the sudden pain. But Evangeline was the stronger one, he would never escape her death hold. Then, finally the untainted blood filled her awaiting mouth, sending waves of pleasure rocketing down her spine.

A sound other than a feeding vampire and her victem broke the nights air. One Evangeline was afriad to hear, the cry of a vampire hunter on hot pursuit of their victem.

sounds like an ibanez would be a good choice for you. im a big technical death metal fan and ive been playing since i was around 6. i currently own and ibanez XPT707 or an ibanez xiphos. Rg series is probably a good look for you. check it out, they are great, light weight, and have a huge variety of tones and sounds. idk about the details of the guitar but ibanez is a solid choice for the rest of it.
