What is the best way to get back on track?
I've been diabetic for 6 years (I found out when I was 15) I kind of had a wake up call the other day and realized I need to get my *** in gear. I didn't come from a very supportive family so I've never been in very good control of my diabetes. I have a very high insulin resistance level and the combination of having no support and the frustration of constantly high blood sugars has made me a very, very horrible diabetic.

I want to change, I need to.

I take Novolog and Levemir, I'm good about taking the shots for the most part, I take them but it may be an hour or two later. I very rarely check my BS, seeing it always high is rather depressing and discouraging.

I'm trying to change my diet and exercise, I count carbs and now weight watchers points. That's going well.

I just wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions of how to start a change 6 years overdue. Please no rude or judgemental answers, thanks. :]
If you can, get a pump. I found that checking my blood sugars after I got my pump was easier. It was no longer a check of if I was "good" or "bad", but a check of weather my pump was doing good. For years before that, I would check my sugars no more than a few times a year. Now I do several a day. Better control really does depend on knowing your levels. You gotta check.
Diet and exercise are important, but will not help a lot if you don't get your sugars down.
I have certainly had a lot of experience with the nasty feeling of bad sugar readings, and with an unsupportive family. It is really hard to maintain good control.
How can i lose weight when i have tried everything else?
I have been to weight watchers, slimming world nation scottish slimmers and also worked my *** off in the gym. I'm 5'11" and weigh 18st 11lb. I've tried everything since starting these ridiculous clubs which i stick to by the letter i have actually gained a stone. Any idea's don't involve an eating disorder. Cheers
All of these fad diets and clubs are there to make money. They are sh*t and dont work!

You just have to EAT HEALTHY, and EXCERCISE!!!!!!!!

For a healthy diet, you need to be eating small to medium meals regularly. 4 or even 5 times a day. Each meal (apart from breakfast which should preferably be fibre rich), should contain a balanced ammount of carbohydrates for energy, (from potatoes, rice and pasta, etc) protien (from fish, chicken, occassional red meat is fine, soya is good too) and plenty of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants (simple fresh fruit and veg). Eat like this and make sure you are well hydrated (fruit juice is as good as water, any fluid counts, but some fluids have negative effects too, such as alcohol or caffiene rich drinks.)

You can have a wide range of healthy meals with this, from Thai, Chinese, Italian, British, Indian, etc. Just make sure each meal contains balanced ammounts of these three. On the bright side too, fresh veg and rice and pasta is a lot cheaper than crappy junk food!

This doesn't mean you cant have chocolate or pizza/takeaway/etc, just save them as very occassional treats.

A healthy diet and keeping well hydrated will help with your skin too.

The big secret to keeping a healthy weight and staying healthy is EXCERCISE, particularly cardio excercise (running, swimming, cycling, etc).

Cardio exercise will not only burn calories and reduce your body fat levels, but will also improve your resting heart rate and lung function, making you healthier.

Strength training will help you strengthen and tone your muscles. Heavy weights with short reps/sets will build your fast twitch muscle fibres and build size, power and strength, but if you use light to medium weights with lots of reps/sets, you wont build size, but you will tone up your muscles body and train muscle endurance. This will obviously make you 'look' healthier and more toned, but will also increase your metabolism (as your muscles demand more energy) so you will burn calories faster.

As far as excercise goes, you should aim to strike a balance between cardio training and strength training, this way you will build good strong and toned muscle, but also keep your body fat levels down and increase your heart and lung performance, making you much fitter and healthier.

ok, on WW online, where u look up food, i looked up subway, and it confused me. it will have a 6-inch roast beef sub and say 5 points. then later down the list it will have points for bread, condiments, cheese and other stuff. my question is does the roast beef sub worth 5 points already include wheat bread and veggies or is that stuff extra points? please no smart *** jerk off answers.
The 5 points covers the sandwich with just the beef and salad on the regular white bread. If you add cheese, any sauce or get a different type of bread this will alter the points value. Most veggies are free (0 points) so you can have as much of that as you like.

You get the hang of calculating the points after a while, before long it will becom second nature. Good luck :)

What is a good online free weight loss community?
I need to loose weight, and while I tried weight watcher meetings, I didn't care much for the group sessions. I like encouragement, but I didn't care for the group therapy/cheerleading feel. I just want to see really people attaining their goals, tips on how to loose weight and occasionally someone to kick me in the *** if I fall off track. Also, about Weight Watchers...I'm cheap and couldn't afford it, so I am just looking for something free and simple I can join online without feeling the need to keep buying certain brands of food and such...

ok well i have suffered an eating disorder and my mom has taken charge. she is FORCING me to eat. i dont want to be fat and i feel like what she is making me eat will make me that way. i have been eating 800 calories a day for about 3 months or so. and i am 5'3ish and 95 pounds. and this is what she made me eat today

breakfast:egg and cheese coirrsant from burger king

lunch: 1 slice of pizza

snack: pack of peanut butter nabs

dinner: frozen chicken patty with bun and a microwaveable can of weight watcher soup


i feel like such a fat *** right now.

i also drank about 6 cans of diet mt. dew& half a 2 liter of diet mt dew.

do you think i will gain weight from eating like this?
Starving yourself is not the answer. People who do not eat correctly are not healthy, and over time this becomes apparent in their apprearance. Your hair becomes thin and lifeless. Your skin tone looks disgusting and your eyes are not as bright as they should be. You end up with dark circles under your eyes and hollowed cheek bones. You may not see it, but others do...and it's ugly.

There is nothing more attractive then a healthy person. You need to find a happy medium. Your mum is just trying to help you, but she could be offering you healthier alternatives.

Instead of an egg and cheese crossont from burger king, try making something at home. Try boiled eggs. Have a peice of toast or some cereal. Make smoothies, with fruit, yoghurt and honey.

For lunch try a chicken or tuna salad. Have a salad sandwich or a healthy wrap.

Dinner - tried grilled fish or chicken, with vege's or salad.

Get rid of the fizzy drink. Instead, drink plenty of water. At least 1 litre a day, more if you can. If you don't drink enough water, your body stores fluid, making you bloated.

Go and buy yourself some healthy cooking magazines books. They have heaps of ideas for yummy fat / sugar free foods.

Excercise. Try for at least 1hrs excercise 5 times a week. You may not realise it now, but excercise will make you feel fabulous. It will also burn off any unwanted fats ect. If your excercising, you can have treats such as chocalate ect, because it will all come straight back off when you get out there and get active.

Food is fuel for your body. If you starve your body of nutrients and healthy food, you will not operate to your maximum potential. You won't have the energy that you should have. Your body will age, inside and out. You may think you are thin and attractive, but others won't see you that way.

As I said earlier, there is nothing more attractive than a healthy girl who takes good care of herself. You've only got one body, look after it.
